Beltran is kind of a weird one for me. I do actually think he belongs in Cooperstown, but as a Royal, his and Damon's legacy is mostly how we couldn't win with them or flip them for franchise-defining prospects. They're kind of footnotes in #Royals history, the examples of a terrible era.

I did consider voting for Yo. His case is more the story and what he could have been. I think there's space for that in a Hall of Fame, honestly. But I kinda think that should have happened years ago, not as part of the regular process. But I could go either way. I'll be happy if he goes in.

Gordon is the only one who deserves to be in, even though he is in my opinion overrated. The others' impactful careers as Royals were too short, three or four years. Billy Butler's legacy has for some reason been tarnished, but he contributed more than most of the others.

I agree about Billy Butler. I feel like he's the guy who started to put us back on the map a few years before the whole team was good. I think he gets shorter thrift /because/ he peaked sooner, and wasn't as good when the team was winning. We made no effort to keep him after 2014.

That's fair; that was my thought in general. I went back and forth on Wade Davis, but I felt his impact was so large in those few years---it shifted how the game built rosters and valued relievers for years---that you'd want to include him. But I could go either way on it.
