The VLM is very excited about this plot because it has been confirmed by local badger sabs who visited the site this week, that there are large badger setts nearby! To have another safe area for the protection of these badgers from the yearly cull would be wonderful 🦡

All of the fields in this area are used to graze cows for the dairy industry. To be able to remove this land from the dairy industry and give it back to endangered wildlife would be just fantastic 🦡🐝🦋🦊🐦🐞🦎

We are sorry for the short notice but we have been waiting to hear if the shooting and hunting rights were being sold with the land. The VLM never buys land without blocking shooting and hunting. GREAT NEWS last night it was confirmed they were 🙌

Hi, if you’re successful, please consider natural regeneration & not tree planting. It’s generally better ecologically & C02 wise, & cheaper.

Thank you, we only ever plant the native trees that are sparse or not present . Some of these large grazing areas have so few seeding species so it could potentially take decades for woodland to grow. We never blanket plant & we do not deer fence so cannot protect natural regeneration from the deer.

It's amazing how far even large tree seeds can travel. The diversity and patchy structure of naturally regenerated sites is much, much better than anything planted. Planted native woodlands are often rather poor for wildlife in comparison.

Many trees/shrubs that are traded as native are not. Also brambles and blackthorn make very efficient nursery plant for trees. It’s also important to consider the other constituents of a habitat; planted whips don’t make for diverse habitat; they also cost more in CO2 due to transport & cult. costs
