It's natural to feel afraid or worried from such an interaction. If you are, process those feelings with a friend or trusted person in private, rather than in public view where your misery can become grist for someone's sadistic pleasure or, worse, an excuse to further harass and abuse you. -LF

The list shows empty sometimes when an account has been soft-suspended (but not yet removed/deleted) by bsky and thus its profile information cannot be displayed. It is indeed a bug. -LF

The bsky trans cluster that have been here since the beginning have been well aware of this category of attack and have robust cultural self-defences/inoculation against it to reflexively block, but the same cannot be said for the newer wave of queer/trans/neurodivergent joiners to bsky as of late.

which is why we encountered some initial friction because to them it was a "yeah of course you block, why would you even need a blocklist for that? harms outweight benefits" and also a "that is glaringly obvious, it doesn't even need to be said why you block, just block them, no help is needed".

There's some degree of "we moved here because we thought it would be safer!" and then they were followed by the transphobic bots because transphobes aren't content to stew in their own juices, they always need trans people to torment and will migrate to follow their prey.
