The first problem is that the people who need to hear this aren't listening or can't understand.
Then there's the issue of a political system based in winning over people so they will vote, which is simply a screaming match race to the bottom.

I cannot express you how much I wish the United States was tolerant and Progressive enough to elect Pete buttigieg as president. unfortunately as a gay man it will be 10 times more difficult than hiring a woman as we've seen with the previous two examples.

I don’t know. Maybe you’re right, and I’m just a little bit optimistic. But I think that if the people who are thoughtful and open and smart would get up and out the door to vote, maybe we would have a chance at a good and smart candidate for a change. I love Pete. He’s the best that we have.

I think he would have made it in 2020, but the DNC shoved a 78-year-old, man down our throats instead. No one who wasn't a democrat was excited about Biden in 2020; it was our chance to get another Obama but we got someone who would be 82 years old at the end of his first term instead.
