I couldn't sit with my dad at the end watching him fighting for every breath for a few days (my brother and sister did so he wasn't alone). It was cruel, and it was anger that made me leave.
Knowing that an animal would have been given the mercy he was denied.

He deserved better than that. Everyone does.
I've seen people go through it. One of my friends is a doctor who has to do it. And it's always been used respectfully and with all the care in the world. No complaints, right decision every time.
It's a right that should be available.
