These are the same people who think trickle down economics works. The primary force in capitalism is profit, why would they think these companies, who employ legions of lawyers to seek out tax loopholes, will willingly absorb that cost and the subsequent hit to their bottom line?

Exporters can and do absorb some of the tariff costs through reduced prices which lower profit margins to maintain market access. The extent to which this occurs depends on an interplay of market conditions, contractual agreements, and the bargaining power of the trading parties.

BTW this tariffs trump imposed in 2017 was the beginning of the inflation that increased through trumps 1st term and spiked under Biden.
