I will be the first in line to vote for leaving the EU. I am not going to give that much power to officials I never elected and who have little incentive to care about my country. There are some subjects that are too important to my country to just let some random people decide for us. - ThreadSky

The European Parliament has no power to originate legislation. It can only vote on proposals.

Yes and that is why I said that I never elected those officials and did not say that they are unelected.

Because, as you off course know, every country only gets to fill a certain amount of seats in the European parliament and only votes for those seats.

This is a weird objection. Don't know where you are from but in plenty of countries you vote for a constituency representative eg a Congressman, MP etc rather than every representative. Is that really such a big problem?

It is not a big problem with the veto in place. Without the veto it would be for me. I am not saying I am happy with the voting system at it is. It is to easy to block certain issues, but the complete removal I see as an issue. For example, how would you prevent the EU from expanding it's power?

Yes I just described it. I am fully aware how it works. I never said it was undemocratic. That is also why I do want to keep the veto around.
