“This land is your land if you donate $1B to me, this land is my land whether you donate $1B to me or not, I will sell you deregulation from CA to the NY island, I will chop down the redwood forests and pollute the Gulf Stream waters, this land belongs to me me me” doesn’t ring a bell. Curious…
This Land is Native American Land, and yes I do agree that we as a society need to protect, preserve, and even propagate nature! The more we integrate ourselves WITH nature, the healthier humanity and the world will be.
LOL!!! Yes, every bit of land in America is "Native American"... By the way, they're "indigenous people." If you're going to employee pathetic identity politics, at least get your pretend aggrieved groups right.
Exactly!
For everyone who loves Planet Earth 🌏🌍🌎, it would probably be wise to visit your beloved places before the ice caps melt, before the glaciers melt and before beautiful beaches are underwater.
Pretty sure that conservatives have shown us time and time again that they can be. The only thing they want to conserve is their “God given right” to use the land anyway they want to.
The singer of the song agrees, if people actually listened instead of clipping out only the parts they want to hear
"There was a big high wall there that tried to stop me.
The sign was painted, said ‘Private Property.’
But on the backside, it didn’t say nothing.
This land was made for you and me"
If you agree don't just share on this forum. Tell someone in DC what you think. It only takes a few minutes and best of all..it doesn’t cost any money.
We don’t need money in politics. We just need people to participate.
There is SO MUCH TO PROTECT right now! Please contact your representatives to keep our beautiful national parks as well as anything else that some want to tear down!
We don't know what lies ahead with the incoming administration, so we'll have to stay calm and see what they do. If they decide to open up protected lands or attempt to drill or sell off areas of National Park land, can they do it? And is there anything we can do to stop them?
Denial won't change the truth. He's told us repeatedly what he'll do. His goal is to burn down the system, declare himself dictator, and parcel out the country to the highest bidders.
"The ethic of conservation is the explicit abnegation of man's dominion over the Earth. The lower species are here for our use. God said so: Go forth, be fruitful, multiply, and rape the planet — it's yours. That's our job: drilling, mining and stripping. Sweaters are the anti-Biblical view...
Every child, at birth, is granted share of the public deed over all of our public lands -- parks, forests, wildlife refuges, monuments, wilderness areas, protected rives and wetlands, and the right to clean air and water!
Bro obviously did not watch the Pocahontas movie. “You think you own whatever land you land on” bullshit mindset over here.
((But yeah protect public land. Love the cause, but this land isn’t ours))
Yeah. Protect the people's land. Give it back to people, but, like, we kinda screwed it up already, but yeah. I want people to have it, but, like, the greed, you know? Like, you don't want it to become oil drills, but the greed in this country goes deep, so giving it back is pretty bad too now.
Your incoming president just offered the world the option to buy into environmentally sensitive areas to destroy the land. What on Earth makes you think he's going to change his mind?
Native societies worked with nature—hunting only what was needed, respecting migrations, and living sustainably. Colonizers? They killed buffalo by the millions and polluted the land.
Environmentalism isn’t new. It was Indigenous wisdom.
I’m going to assume you’re descendant of colonizers, slave masters, rapist, murders and theives! There’s nothing wrong with acknowledging the true people of this land who it belongs to. But you don’t have to be so White about it.
The funny thing is, you're probably describing your own ancestors, but of course you're an American and you have no understanding of history beyond what you learned on tik tok, so you just scream and cry about colonisers whenever you get called out
Speaking as a Scot, the land was there before any of us were around and the land’ll still be there even when we’re all long gone so what right do any of us have to try and possess any of it and try to restrict other’s access to open countryside…? Good luck to the National Park Service!
The convicted felon & his African immigrant billionaire puppet master say absolutely no environmental regulations for anyone who gives him big bribes so say goodbye to clean land, air, & water. National Park resources are likely already being auctioned off to the biggest bribers. Sickening!
I prefer the later verse that rveryone seems to memory hole
In the shadow of the steeple I saw my people,
By the relief office I seen my people
As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking
Is this land made for you and me?
Selling off oil rights is probably how Trump will “drill baby drill”.
His argument will be it will prop up the economy (pay back his tax break to billionaires) and save SS/Medicare.
It will also further enrich his wealthy associates (he has no “friends” since Epstein is gone).
I used to believe that but with Trump back in office rich billionaires will be buying up acres for their summer retreat with Trump getting a percentage of course.
Traitor Trump and his co-conspirators want to STRIP MINE and DRILL BABY DRILL ... for GREED. They don't give a damn about people or the natural world. They think it's something to be exploited for PROFIT 🤬
Well, it used to be our land. Now that corporations are people, it's really Nestle's, Monsanto's, Cargill's, Bill Gates', and various Chinese investment house's land.
Now imagine the scene above with oil derricks and clear-cut logging. America had a choice to make, vote for hope, acceptance, and lover, or for fear, rejection, and hate. America chose poorly.
Yes natives inhabited the area first. But the region and wilderness is much older than even the first humans to reach it. *That* is what we must preserve, together.
People "taking care of" the land is a very different thing to the land "belonging to them".
A baseless accusations of bigotry is badly misplaced here, unless you think I am bigoted against all humans who think this place, any place, belongs to them.
I think the point is that if we still want to have these wild spaces wild, we must fight like hell before the drilling rigs set in. Cause the Billionaires are coming.
Colonialization has never been anything other than a land and resource grab benefiting the very few. However none of us have any say over where we are born or what our ancestors did. The best we can do is learn and work together. The tundra is burning all year round. ---
We need to protect public lands from drilling and speculative development, AND we can recognize this land is NOT our land.
Turtle Island belongs to Native folks and Indigenous Tribal Nations. It was stolen by the eventual so-called US.
We are just the current stewards. That's why we must protect it.
The concept of owning land is alien to indigenous peoples almost everywhere. You can mark out a territory on the surface and claim that, but you can’t really own part of the earth. It’s one big interconnected thing. The lines we draw are arbitrary and largely imaginary.
My best guess is the agency is woefully underfunded. It’s complete BS when they send so much f’n money to the Pentagon that it can even be accounted for when audited.
This country is truly magnificent—every corner of it. Our national parks are the perfect way to experience that beauty firsthand. From the stunning landscapes to the peaceful serenity, there’s nothing like it. Highly recommend seeing it for yourself. You won’t be disappointed!
And raping the lands via oil gas etc companies, and being able to snatch up “federal lands” to build mansions on , while riding their 4 wheelers etc across national parks. A horrific free for all. “America” has been captured & being sold to the highest bidding oligarchs for ruin.
My biological father was Yakama. I am saddened by the Euro/Indigenous history. However, a lot has happened in 300 years.
To give the land back as some have proposed for National Parks,I see casinos and desecrating the “resources” for money as is being done today. I want to be convinced otherwise.
Indigenous tribes have casinos so they can earn money to feed and house their people and maintain their infrastructure -- because the white bastards who forced them off their land and onto reservations with little to no natural resources didn't give a shit if they lived or died.
This time bring guns to protect it ! Last time the peaceful thing didn’t work. When the ‘hired goons’ from the oil, miming, gold… show up, Do what’s required. If not don’t bother. Why get yourself beaten for nothing. Do what’s required or it won’t stop. Fuck these assholes, It’s time to show them ☠️
Read about Ted Turner's Prairieland initiative.
He has been buying up farmland around a large region of our American west; idea is to meld some together for a preserve for indigenous regional wildlife flora and fauna especially wolf and buffalo.
I remember singing this song in elementary class…. THIS LAND WAS MADE FOR YOU AND ME …. What a beautiful memory. That was during a time when we lived in goodwill and NOW …..
Wait a minute…so we can honor the past, but where can we put all the people we have now without homes so we can also have a better future? What’s the balance?
Catching game or catching sunsets—it doesn’t matter. Public lands are our lands. Treat them like your backyard. Protect what you love. 🌅 #ProtectPublicLands #ThisLandIsOurs
I love our national parks unfortunately trump could care less. I’m sorry but there will be oil rigs all over them within months of the orange turd taking office.
We can fight about whether this is indigenous land. That's living in the past and will not be useful to anyone. We need to look ahead, all work together, indigenous and immigrants alike, and protect what we can from the evil that wants to destroy it for money. Work together people.
This land is native land; it is not our land; it is stolen land. We can't even honor the treaties or take care of it. 😔 #IndigenousRights #LandBack #TreatyViolation #EnvironmentalJustice
Trump will try and sell off national parks all around the US. The Republicans think of the national parks as free money just sitting there since the national parks service watches over 85 million acres. We need to do what we can from them destroying the parks services
The federal government made parks unavailable for purchase by the wealthy so everyone could enjoy them. Trump wants to grab some parcel of certain parks to build golf courses.
Public lands are more in line with indigenous ways than any approach where resources are extracted for private profit of a few, and all of us-especially native people-pay the price. We have a collective right to a planet that sustains all life ✊🌎(preferably indigenous-managed).
I completely agree. The way public lands are managed with respect to indigenous values emphasizes sustainability and a deep understanding of the land, something we can all learn from. The extraction of resources for profit often comes at the expense of both the environment and vulnerable communities
especially Native peoples. A more collective and compassionate approach to managing our planet could create a more equitable and sustainable future for everyone. 🌍✊

The land is our greatest asset.

Obviously before the first humans arrived there wasn’t an “owner” either.
If any human can claim the land then it’s the indigenous people, though they didn’t view it as property to own.
A baseless accusations of bigotry is badly misplaced here, unless you think I am bigoted against all humans who think this place, any place, belongs to them.
They forget who is threatening this land.
They forget who originally protected this land and from whom.
We can fight the billionaires while showing true humility toward the indigenous people.
I simply take exception to @altnps.bsky.social speaking flippantly about “owning” this land.
It’s the arrogance of the colonizer, who forgets those who truly protected this land first.
And from whom
Turtle Island belongs to Native folks and Indigenous Tribal Nations. It was stolen by the eventual so-called US.
We are just the current stewards. That's why we must protect it.
Through mass murders/genocide, I might add.
Choose your words a little more carefully.

In 1851, the U.S. government burned villages and claimed the land, ignoring treaties. Now it’s a tourist destination.

The U.S. Army forced them out to create “untouched wilderness,” erasing Native stewardship of the land.

Example: The Black Hills (now Mount Rushmore) was sacred Lakota land guaranteed by treaty.
The U.S. seized it after gold was found.
