Did Watanabe need Keiko Nobumoto more than she needed him? Well, look at Wolf's Rain, Nobumoto's big non-Watanabe work. I wouldn't consider it a favorite of mine, but it was pretty good. Then look at Watanabe's output without Nobumoto.
