It is really weird that anyone gets hung up on it being *not* sexual. Just feels like a reductive way to look at the world. Not everyone is horny all the time.
Yep. This is why I just have no time for the popular Frodo/Sam ship. It’s not there, and for that matter it disregards the actual depth of their relationship.
I think it's fun, but it's definitely one of those things that should stay in the fanfic area and not in serious discussions about the books, like basically all the ships.
Yeah that’s a good attitude. It’s how I feel about Ernie and Bert: I think it’s wonderful that they’ve been claimed as queer icons, and also as Frank Oz himself has said, they canonically are not.
I never got the impression myself that Elves didn't like sex, more like they weren't obsessed with it in the way a lot of Men were (& are). Also, when a Dark Lord is trying to take over the world, I venture to say there are more important things one should be thinking about than one's next bedmate.
I believe the Professor actually wrote at some length about Elven attitudes toward marriage and mating in some of his notes that were published in "The History of Middle-earth".

If they don't have sex on page it didn't happen I guess.
If nothing else, Tolkien is a rare spot where you don't have to worry about it. But mostly it just...doesn't need it.
