During his 1st term many of us learned about the emoluments clause for the first time. People made jokes about having to increase their vocabulary with words they’d rather not know.

Now it is apparently just some quaint idea from the past, even though it’s still part of our Constitution.🤯🤦‍♀️

Sigh 😞. After Trump won the election, I naively thought his corruption/conflicts of interest would be the worst of it. With all of his other autocratic moves - and steps he’s taking to ruin the federal government, I actually wish the corruption was everything that was wrong.

At a tangent here....

Morality would have been a shortcut to avoiding destruction from grasping shortsightedness. Instead the rule that "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts" will be re-discovered from the ruins of having ignored it.

Why is anyone surprised? He is just repeating every prior behavior but now on steroids after the Supreme Ct said anything a POTUS does is legal.
