Have the definitions of inert and political changed recently?

It actually is super interesting to find the hidden political values underneath seemingly apolitical works of pop culture - Lord of the Rings' inherent conservatism, for instance - but I think even by THOSE standards the original Star Wars trilogy is basically political inert.
