Oh, yeah. This one is such a hurdle for our grand epics, isn't it. A great pantser said that even when he's got the final "lighthouse" in mind (where the story should go), he asks detour questions at all the scene ends to make those moments move on.

Open a news item or newspaper piece, find the first person's name you run across and the first 'action' sentence.
Start writing what ever your mind conjures up. Don't stop until you have at least 2 pages.
Then close that and go back to your #WIP.
Your mind just needs a diversion.

Ask "what is the worst thing that could happen?" And do that. Worst from the MCs perspective.
