The supposed "other markets" have better-suited grades of petroleum, cheaper to extract, and closer to home (ie. cheaper to transport).

The claims that pipelines were somehow about expanding access to non-USA markets was a politically useful deception, from the beginning.

Pipelines are a cheaper, safer, and more environmentally responsible than rail, which is the current method of moving Alberta crude. Canada also needs to be more self sufficient in refining our own oil.

Good points. Do you think it's also worth trying to get some environmental concessions in that deal? On the one hand, I do think it's important to hit as hard as possible as fast as possible to force Trump to back down, but on the other hand, the ethics of exporting more oil is still an issue
