It's a good policy start, obviously it will work a lot better where provinces and municipalities are on board. There won't be any kind of truly long term affordable housing until government at some level commits to own and administer it. That's the discussion we really need to have.

Housing is a big ship to turn around. It takes massive effort over the long haul for people to really feel the change. Carney is throwing everything at it. Poilievre has three ideas, two totally unworkable, and wants to axe the rest of the strategies.

His capital gains exemption for investing in Canada, I heard a housing expert say it would increase investment properties and further squeeze people looking. Ditto the GST elimination, would make it easier for gobbling up properties. Nobody is really calling him out for these measures.
