You're absolutely right - I think bluesky feels the way furry online spaces used to feel before vast corporate social media became the norm; places like Twitter were, in truth, anomalous in terms of the sheer scale of usership, and it made it quite impersonal and not fun a lot of the time.
It kind of feels like early Myspace or Tumblr, only with an already much healthier community at the start, which is nice. Not to mention they're not just friendly, but welcoming to NSFW content creators, which I really love
Yeah! The moderation feels like actual reasonable people and not a mindless auto-mod system that folks can abuse to get artists suspended for drawing content they don't like a la Twitter's system.

You all missed out on cohost, that was truly like early tumblr circa 2013. But also better because it let you fuck around more with stuff like CSS and people made cool shit with that. Also it got people into "advanced internet usage" like making websites.

It doesn't feel outside of the realm of possibility! I've had several people respond on Twitter to imply that they're not coming over here because of a perception of Bluesky being like leftist social media which feels like the trash taking itself out hahaha
