I never considered it a first world country. Check the ranking of our education system, health care, social services, public transportation, infrastructure. Visit a hospital, or a school cafeteria in Europe to see what a first world country looks like.

Yes, I've seen this coming for years. I've told Republican friends that their party is intent on making us a third world country. I've tried impressing upon them the utility of our democratic institutions and that abandoning acting and arguing in good faith leads to disaster

Every time, it's shocking. Whether I'm fairly prescient and spot on anticipating the lines MAGA will cross or I happen to be wrong, one way or another, it still always ends up being shocking.
