Just out! Our peer-reviewed critique of the Cass Review has been published by BMC Medical Research Methodology. Please read and share. We show that the Cass Review is fatally flawed and should not be the basis for policy or practice in transgender healthcare.

Makes it harder to make similar political decisions unopposed elsewhere, though, which in turn limits the possible magnitude of the weight of political certainty regarding such political decisions that ~have~ been made...

Although this stuff always happens with the science that is used to justify transphobia whereby it's always a matter of playing catchup on dispelling this bad science and when it isn't dispelled then you get stuff like Autogynephillia that just ends up becoming perceived as absolute truth that

everyone takes for granted as being the truth because it wasn't challenged and then a bunch of other stuff then ends up being created that uses it as proof of that and then the original bad science ends up being obscured.

Like in the case of Autogynephillia it is now just assumed by society that being a trans woman is just inherently sexual and that is then used to claim that we are a danger to cis women specifically because we are perceived as being inherently sexual.

It’s true that it won’t be unmade by science, but science can (and must) be used to add to the political pressure of this fight back. By rights, this publication should send shockwaves through the press. In the absence of a fair press, we need to ensure this is amplified far and wide.

The frustrating thing is that there is a very powerful expose here just waiting for the journalist and editor who are prepared to run with it. Almost no investigation required - the facts are already out there, they just need to be verified (easy), compiled, and published in a major newspaper.
