The Omanis have a good line at "if we're more or less OK we're happy and btw have you noticed are cool new solar parks" that pisses off a lot less people in Brussels at least than Qatari and Emirati overreach

Not sure I agree. I think Oman has time and again proved itself a critical bridge between warring parties and is a vital ally of the West. But even their solar parks are built with money from elswhere in the GCC and Oman can't provide Brussels with FDI or LNG. The politicians go to AD not Muscat

The problem with Doha and the Emiratis is arrogance and overreach. Though in the end the Qataris know when to back off. AD is going to destroy its own business model if MBZ doesn't abandon some of the wilder geopolitical ambitions.

That would have been an accurate assessment two years ago. And Sudan has the potential for disaster. But Gaza/Iran/Trump and to some extend Lebanon/Syria have meant that the GCC coalesce around a more harmonious foreign policy. Which is more cautious and conservative. Increased interst in trade
