I agree. But first the UK has to neutralise internal anti-EU sentiment, and it begins with neutralising Farage/Reform as an active force in UK politics.
While true, unless the electorates catch up it’s irrelevant what they do, because it’ll easily be overturned by Putin stooge’s positioned in the UK & EU.
I am sorry but protecting the integrity of the single market is neither a bureaucratic quibble or a technocratic detail. It is an existential issue for the EU and we won't compromise there.
I fear the idea of a “ special relationship “ has damaged the UK’s ability to see clearly the truth that its destiny should be with Europe and that there never was anything to it other that that which was solely in the US interests..Brexit has been a disaster & Putins win! We need to scrap it!
In the same way that Brexit showed a few skeptical EU parties what NOT to aspire to, having the USA under Trump shows the UK what NOT to emulate.
Farage doesn't openly admit that he's a Trump admirer or puppet. And Trump himself doesn't recognise or accept that he's a Kremlin asset.
Still Confusing what England want. Not Britain or Scotland Wales Northern Ireland. It was England who withdrew from the EU. Given a new Referendum. And the vote to remain Northern Ireland Scotland would leave. The union of the United Kingdom.

I don’t agree with this. The Single Market is the source of EU power and influence in the world. It’s not bureaucratic quibbles to require those who want its benefits to also accept its responsibilities.
Thanks. But the most effective way for UK and EU to cooperate would be for the U.K. to drop Johnson’s red lines. The world has moved on from the conditions that led to them and the U.K. needs to do likewise.
The measures taken many years ago (primarily by the USA) to prevent Europe squabbling amongst itself and creating wars now see Europe uniting to prevent wars being fermented by the current President of the USA.
Putin's Brexit was a key enabler for Putin to invade Ukraine. For a very good reason. He needed this weak, rudderless EU shaking and quivering in fear as this tanks rolled towards Kyiv. It's unlikely that the invasion would have happened without Brexit and Trump.
Agreed! World dynamics have sped up tremendously and become very polarised, democracy vs oligarchy.
There needs to be significantly increased efforts for much closer integration between UK + EU, Canada + EU, Ukraine + EU, Ukraine + NATO, AUS/NZ + EU, and increased European military capabilities.
Exactly. Hope the tax avoiders, xenophobes and racists who brought about Brexit can now realise what they've done and can see the bigger picture of the world order starting to unravel...
It's the UK that lets Brexit get in the way. Not the EU. The UK can make a very simple choice. Drop the red lines and start the process of rejoining the EU. It's up to the UK.

To be honest: that is a bit of “old arrogance”
You know the (uk) saying: when there is a tempest in the channel the continent is isolated…

Apologies for putting it all under the same umbrella - was not fair from me … it was despair talking.

What a time to be alive.
