When Harold Wilson introduced a White Paper in 1965, slashing and restricting Commonwealth work visas he said: “There are towns and cities in Britain which are being asked today to absorb a degree of immigration on a scale beyond their social capacity to absorb…”. It’s not just a “far right” issue.

It’s not Reform bile. You might not like it but Harold Wilson used very similar language when introducing a White Paper slashing work visas in 1965. Thinking this is a “right wing” issue lost us the 2016 Referendum (among other things).
