Known as the "Six Triple Eight," the unit was deployed to Europe in 1945 to address a massive backlog of 17 million pieces of undelivered mail for American soldiers stationed there.
Despite challenging conditions and facing racism and sexism, the unit sorted and delivered the mail in half the expected time, boosting morale. Although they returned without much public recognition, their story has gained attention over the years.
