The FDA has approved the first at-home test for cervical cancer, called the Teal Wand. This allows women to screen for HPV, the main cause of cervical cancer, using a vaginal swab at home instead of undergoing a pelvic exam at a doctor’s office.

This easier, less invasive option could help increase screening rates. The test requires a telehealth appointment and will be mailed to a lab for analysis, with follow-up care arranged if results are positive.
