Why don’t you go to Ukraine and pose that question to their people! While you’re there ask how many have died in this genocide! Attend some of their funerals. You’ll have your answer! Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦
pls dont be so silly as in beliving the msm george do your own home work on it cos that peaceful neighbor has a real life mp who is openly a nazi they also have a full army of them googel it an see for your self
Putin has repeatedly sworn to destroy America in many many speeches over many decades.
He interferes in elections.
He invades countries.
He keeps the Russian people poor and enriches his oligarchs. They teach that America is evil in their fucking schools.
Also the totalitarinsitic regeime that kills dosodents, murders political rivals and murders their own people with impunity while plotting the best way to destroy democracy and freedom.
They are not your friend.
Mr. Sulu: Make arrangements to have Crowder transported, along with any records of his ideologies, beliefs, and philosophies, back to Planet "X" immediately. A formal reprimand will be issued for this serious lapse of judgement. Failure to comply will result in further serious disciplinary action.
Nut jobs aside, one of the many issues with magats is their complete inability to think for themselves, do research, and know what they’re talking about.
I hope you don't mind, I touched up your comment a little.
Yes. It’s because for the 4th time in 34 years, the largest country on Earth invaded a peaceful neighbor and began killing, raping and destroying to annex territory and pillage resources while claiming to be the victim. How is this hard?
Well, clearly not everyone is against killing, raping and destroying. Hell, at least two of those seems to be a prerequisite to get elected in the US these days.
God I'm glad I' don't live there. I really feel for the decent Americans though.
Agreed. Putin could have negotiated a trade deal with Ukraine that would have given him access to Black Sea and even a partnership to develop rare earth minerals. Would have cost less and no one had to die.
His intent, imo, is to rebuild ussr which he could have effectively done by trade coalitions. But that would have taken time through strategy and cooperation. Instead he used brute force.
I know, I’m not being realistic. I see the world how I’d like it to be, not how it sadly is.
South Ossetia was already independent by 2008. Russia wants to make the conflicts that turned into wars during the waning years of the Soviet Union look as similar as possible to Russia’s actions in 2014 against Ukraine.
Republicans spent decades telling us why Russia was the bad guy, as recently as 2012. It's amazing nobody asks how an entire party changed its mind overnight. Just as the country began invading its neighbors.
Because not only did they invade another country on a whim, they regularly kill dissenters, force military service, and let their own people die in poverty while the oligarchs get richer and richer.
We need to be getting Kamala ready for 2028, this is a huge distraction, we don’t want the conversation focused on this! We need to move the conversation towards her strong points and we need to start now!!
Because they have been involved in 50 armed conflicts since WW2, they have never stopped fighting. The believe they are superior race and deserve an empire. In reality they are a 3rd world country.
It's hard (for some in my circle) because the peaceful nation had the nerve to choose a future that aligned with Europe and NATO.
(God, I need a new circle.)
Serious question: Did they stop teaching US history in high school?
By Junior year we all knew all about Chamberlain, appeasement, the beer garden putsch, Reichstag fire, Hitler's rise to power, concentration camps, and D-day. The Cold War.
Russia bombed a maternity ward.
A Russian tank ran over and crushed a car filled with civilians.
Russian military men have been gang raping women hostages and then murdering them.
It's also a pretty easy question to answer if you're British and you've seen Putin send his goons over here to murder people with nerve agents and radioactive poison.
With so much information at literally the tips of our finger tips, it never ceases to amaze me that people don't bone up on history before they ask such stupid questions!
Yeah I kinda figured it out myself when they started immediately raping and executing civilians, little kids as well. Piling up the bodies like firewood, trying to burn the evidence
or the daily bombing of civilians, power stations, food stocks, maternity wards, children's cancer hospital ffs...
These Russian paid influencers play a significant role in confusing the US electorate.
(I assume he is 🇷🇺 paid like Ben, Juanita, Tim, etc bc it’s hard to imagine this level of stupidity being genuine)
CRITICAL- NOT Russians.
But the official actions of the Russian government as led by Vlad Putin. If they dump him we'd love to have a talk about how they can rejoin world civilization.
Because their leader is a fascist, authoritarian ex-KGB mobster-friendly oligarch who cares nothing for anyone who is 'beneath' him and has been trying to reassemble the Soviet Union since it failed in the 90's by any means possible.
You’re leaving a few things out. Putin’s method of “destabilize-&-install-a-puppet” backfired. He stoked the violence in E. Ukraine. But the puppet step failed. So he invaded. He violated every agreement. He said he would not invade. Could’ve made a legit agreement w Ukraine but chose this path.
Anyone following events knows that Russia stoked that conflict. Anyone that isn't can very quickly Google the facts surrounding it. No amount of whitewashing is going to convince anyone with an ounce of intelligence that those breakaway "republics" would exist without Russian interference.
Quantifiability? of what intelligence? What does the number of intelligence reports have to do with anything? There were immediate and pretty conclusive intelligence reports showing Russian troops and equipment going to and from the Donbass. Specific vehicles tracked, and so on.
Referring to the violence in E. Ukraine with zero context is leaving stuff out. Esp. since Putin himself tried to lay the blame for that violence solely on Ukraine & used it as part of his justification for invading.
perhaps you're overthinking it? 🙂 -- i pointed out that Eastern Ukraine was not "peaceful" in February 2022 -- if I had said "Ukraine was not peaceful." then perhaps i could be accused of "missing out" that this didn't apply to most of Ukraine -- but i didn't -- my point was factual, not political
And what was the point of your noted exception - left dangling as it was? Intended or not, your comment teeters on nuance and then just leaves. It is not unfair to read that as a challenge to the original post. As in “but there was violence in the East, so…” - and? what?
Has this guy been asleep for the last decade? Does he not remember 2014, or literally the past 5 years, not to mention the human rights abuses that happen in russia constantly
When Putin had Navalny in prison, near the Arctic Circle, where he was unable to do any damage to Putin, Putin killed him anyway.
@digijordan Does that sound like a good guy or a bad guy?
I've just joined Bluesky and I'm so glad to find out you're here too George ❤️... As for this post, Russians are nice, but the people controlling and manipulating them are very, very bad 😳
They also have an overcentralized form of government with minimal self-correcting power that is prime for corruption and abuses of power. They are doing their best to export this corruptability to their rivals, destabilizing governments everywhere and making nuclear miscalculation more likely.
Before the war in Ukraine, this would have been a more valid question. It’s one that I started asking myself after seeing HBO’s ‘Chernobyl’ and realizing that everything I knew about Soviet history had been filtered through a U.S. perspective or amounted to propaganda.
I wanted to learn more about that history from the actual Soviet citizens who lived it. I don’t buy into the American idea that “communists” automatically equal “bad.”
But now, Russia is unambiguously the aggressor, trying to take over an independent country and erase its culture.
I mean, that's just their latest act of villainy. Russia has a long sordid history of flagrant violations of human rights, civil rights, international laws and international ethics on all levels. Bad guy is as bad guy does.
Several peaceful neighbours.
They want to rule over many countries that were once under their control and hated it. They try to take down our security, financial systems. They interfere in our elections. They hate USA, UK and EU. The leaders steal govt money and leave their population poor. Etc etc
I deactivated my Xitter account so I can't ask him if he'd feel the same had Putin decided he wanted Alaska back and sent Russian forces across the Bering Sea to take it.
Funny that the time america was "Great" that these people always rave about was also a time there Russia was the biggest threat to the world but they all seem to have forgotten that part.
Can anyone name any manufactured product they would buy from Russia? Car, refrigerator, airplane? They are a country with a shrinking population dependent upon resource extraction which benefits a few oligarchs, including Putin, and that will dead end.
Their main goal is to destabilize successful countries to drag us down with them and set the stage for them to steal stuff from their neighbors. They are definitely our enemy.
It’s also a ruthless far right dictatorship that spends billions of dollars a year disseminating far right propaganda in America with the express purpose of radicalizing and destabilizing our population. It’s not surprising Trump is their favorite.
Not to mention elections interference, destabilizing countries by social media, murder of political oppositors, ethnic cleansing, childrens kidnapping...
I wish is people post disturbing questions like this 1. Preceded with ‘sarcasm!’ 2. Before asking google first! 3. Pick up an old HS history book, try a library, or just think!
Russian is not the bad guy. Putin and the oligarchs who run it are... And the war criminals in the military who... were probably told to skip that silly Geneva Convention thing. I mean what do the Swiss know? Their cheese has holes in it. Who does that?
lol. Does she not have access to a computer? Maybe if she used it to read history and not ask twitter to give her an answer she would be in a better place?
I believe it’s attributed to Lincoln that it’s better to keep one’s mouth closed and have folks think you’re a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt.
May I enumerate?
russia used its military to destroy targeted civilian infrastructure, hospitals, schools, residential healthcare facilities, seniors’ centers, cities, churches, art centers, shopping centers in Ukraine, Syria, & elsewhere.
Good guys don’t target non-combatants when avoidable.
How can they understand what Hamas did in Israel and condemn it without understanding the same about Russia? Their wish for authoritarianism will soon be granted, and they’ll have to find a new way to bitch and lash out, blaming Democrats for all that ails them.
Comments
It's absolutely foolish to be docile towards a hostile nation as they're suggesting.
He interferes in elections.
He invades countries.
He keeps the Russian people poor and enriches his oligarchs. They teach that America is evil in their fucking schools.
But, gee, why is he a bad guy again?
They are not your friend.

To believe that this is all caused by an irrational evil madman is the result of the propaganda machine. The same story they use over and over.

Don't they learn this anymore?
A Russian tank ran over and crushed a car filled with civilians.
Russian military men have been gang raping women hostages and then murdering them.
So no, no reason they're the bad guys.
or the daily bombing of civilians, power stations, food stocks, maternity wards, children's cancer hospital ffs...

we ended up here.
An unfortunate number of Russians buy into the propaganda, but many don’t and still don’t support Putin or his actions in Ukraine.
@digijordan Does that sound like a good guy or a bad guy?
And they sold state assets to friends for a song.
Watch out America...
Under what rock are people living?!?! Is that rock called FOX NEWS by any chance?

Instead of eliminating the board of education, how about quadrupling its annual budget?
People keep falling out of them.
Someone should ask.

I think we've found a counter to the premise that there are no stupid questions
