I think most Canadians would have looked at Trump and thought WTF? Then thought βLetβs have some funβ. lol π. Then start a negotiation tactic like JT did. Canadianβs have a wicked humour, too.
He is going to implement tariffs and the whole 51st state thing is just his mentally stunted pretend-mobster way of intimidating Canada out of retaliatory tariffs in response.
He's not serious about it anyways. He does it for attention away from real issues, and because talking about it gives an impression that Russia taking Ukraine is equal to USA taking Canada
So many raised middle fingers (Canada, Greenland, Panama) in that short time...no wonder that Cheeto is throwing his tantrums on California (another raised middle finger) now.
But since he had promised serious consequences for Gaza now, the Palestinians might be in for really rough times.
Funny, cause Trudeau only has this tough guy story afterwards heβs lost his job. Heβs full of it, he kissed the ring, he took the demeaning social media posts, he took it all and just sat there. Heβs just another liberal too afraid to stand up for what was right when it actually mattered.
I'm waiting for Albertans to realize we export 4 million barrels of oil per day to the US, who exports 10 million barrels of petroleum products per day. Subsidizing big oil since the first MAGA administration.
Thereβs a huge media push just like what happened in the states against trudeau. Progress isnβt happening fast enough for some people. They might end up going fascist if enough people fall for it.
It's the exact same playbook. Harper, Orbon, Putin, and Trump, to name a few, are all in the same club to destabilize democracy to replace with their version of fascism. And the dupes are falling for it. Freedumb convoyers anyone?
This dark/big money buying of elections makes the leadership recipient insensitive to the constituents. Big money is toxic to intelligent life and all life on Earth.
So of course they've forced out Trudeau and are going to elect Poilievre, who's a bargain basement Pussy Ass Bitch from Oilberta, the TexASS of Canada.
I'm an American but I've been day dreaming about moving to Canada for years now. I'm so glad Trump backed off wanting to annex y'all. That orange clown almost ruined the pipe dream that gets me through the toughest days...
If we could sort out Healthcare, guns, and our Jerry Springer-ass politics, I wouldn't be pining over Canada like the nerdy kid who wants to ask out the popular girl.
Eh, I'd still want to move north, actually. I like the cold, and Summertime down here is Hell on Earth...
Ok. Letβs make a pact: when this is sorted out, we will swap spots. Iβm certain this would be legally binding and doesnβt need any further caveats.
Sadly, being an American these days means your rights and privileges are on the line, with an incoming administration bent on the destruction of the middle-class. Stay happily in Canada and enjoy your Universal Healthcare
Because Trump's too stupid to realize Canada has provinces that serve as their rough equivalent to states.
He probably unironically thought Canada was vast wilderness dotted with ski resorts and people go months without seeing other people. Like the American stereotypes of Canada...
βWhen I started to suggest, βWell, maybe there could be a trade for Vermont or California for certain parts,β he immediately decided that it was not that funny anymore, and we moved on to a different conversation."
Neither it will be a wake up call for people will stop falling the lies and deceit. We can elect politicians that will finally put some regulations on the tech bros to help decrease the spread of misinformation.
people are now talking about that instead of, for example, what the impact of 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum coming into the United States, on energy, whether it's oil, or gas, or electricity."
βWhen I started to suggest, βWell, maybe there could be a trade for #Vermont or #California for certain parts,β he immediately decided that it was not that funny anymore, and we moved on to a different conversation."
you know what f it, lets make this happen, same with Greenland, lets overwhelm these fuckers with how much they are loathed and despised in these countries. On top of that, lets also get rid of the Electoral College like he promised, and then no Republican president will ever be voted again.
Jokes aside, I think some on the Right are subconsciously acknowledging the fact that climate change is going to increase the relative attractiveness of northern nations. It explains the threats against Canada and Greenland, and those threats have come from other US politicians too.
I'm from a northern nation. You all might think it means that we don't get winter anymore, but it's just making our weather more extreme and difficult to deal with. Last winter we had a week of -40 with a -50 windchill, which I've never experienced. We get a lot of melt/freeze, making driving awful.
Oh me too! I don't think these 'Mericans realize how wild it's been up here the last few years. Forest fire smoke every summer and days of unbearable heat. And then the extremes in winter. I'm a Sasky.
The fascination with Greenland has more to do with its natural resources. Pres Musk needs lithium. Greenland has lithium and other valuable resources. Maybe Canada is about rebuilding the Bering Land Bridge for Papa Putin.

Canada should count at least as 13 US states.π
Spot on!
It explains perfectly Trumpβs strategy of βlook over hereβ and βonly talk about the crazy thing I just saidβ
I'm guessing that Tesla vehicles are about to get 25% more expensive in Canada.
It would be a big blow.
But since he had promised serious consequences for Gaza now, the Palestinians might be in for really rough times.
For heavens, no history, no treaties, and no policies, etc.
Does he even know that Alaska is American?
Iβve been waiting for him to try and take back Hawaii and CatalinaπΊπΈ

This is a fantastic development for the site as it means news organizations are viewing it as a valuable source of social commentary π
