Jokes aside, I think some on the Right are subconsciously acknowledging the fact that climate change is going to increase the relative attractiveness of northern nations. It explains the threats against Canada and Greenland, and those threats have come from other US politicians too.
I'm from a northern nation. You all might think it means that we don't get winter anymore, but it's just making our weather more extreme and difficult to deal with. Last winter we had a week of -40 with a -50 windchill, which I've never experienced. We get a lot of melt/freeze, making driving awful.
