I'd say all three are mostly indifferent about both factions, save for maybe Lizette who's operations have faced interference from both sides with her being in the Venture Company and all. 'Zaro might take advantage of their rivalry while Elizabeth outright does not care for either one.

He grew up in a remote mining town in the outskirts of Dazar'alor, known for its abundance of silver (now a ghost town) Had many poor inhabitants from all walks of life, diverse races, etc. As a teenager he fell in with a bad crowd, mainly consisting of goblin thugs.

Eventually they unintentionally abandoned their homes after having suffered several setbacks in their escapades, endangering themselves and ultimately getting themselves captured, somehow landing them in the Eastern Kingdoms.

As for his silver drip - it's his connection to his hometown and his family. With so much silver at their disposal they could fashion it into jewelry, trinkets, armor, etc. They wore it with pride, and so did he, hence the silver tusks.

Having spent most of his teenage years in Westfall, he had adopted some of its common fashions ranging from farmhand clothes to drifter garb to Defias Brotherhood attire. So his environment influenced his fashion.
Eventually he refined his apparel a bit and added a touch of silver here and there.
