They most certainly are. That’s why VED needs replacing with a charge that accounts for the road danger pollution and wear on roads based on weight.

It should be based on necessary weight. Electric car batteries are necessary. SUVs obviously aren't. We need electrification or we'll get climate collapse.

EVs are better than ICE cars but worse than public transport for cutting carbon.

Priority should be investment in public transport and safe walking/cycling.

EVs need to pay their way for societal costs: road danger, physical inactivity, pollution, congestion and wear and tear on roads/bridges.

They're far better for the climate and a lot better on pollution. Public transport needs a lot of investment but it isn't going to replace a lot of necessary car usage. And no party that tried to minimise car use where possible would remain popular, at least until public transport is excellent

A thought to consider, I think there are Gov grants for EV charging at home and on new builds possibly. Why nothing for bike parking? People in rented accommodation increasingly being forced not to have bikes, it's wrong.
