This regime is using "generative AI" to write its policy papers, and they are are not checking the outputs, and the results are literally exactly what we warned you they would be.
I mean we literally warned you about exactly this. JFC.

Seven of the sources cited in MAHA commission's report do not exist:
“The paper cited is not a real paper that I or my colleagues were involved with," says one researcher.

It should, but I don't think it is.
Before LLMs they were using article respins (a rules engine based machine writing) spammed to WordPress blogs with merch stores and vitamin D / colloidal silver cures meant to get the YouTubers and tiktokers talking
The problem is the same
The "marketplace of ideas" is flooded with trash. We need orgs and individuals reporting on hoaxes and disinformation
This is still a lot of the same, though
They've always made up trivially "busted" sources but usually hid them behind obscure paywalls or otherwise difficult to source material, redacted journals, etc
The counter is the same - it's a hoax
"There's no way, especially in a nation like the US, that toxic and antiscientific rhetoric could possibly survive!" right?
Welcome to 2025
and they certainly don't listen
