Hate to break it to you, but we were supporting fascism back then. The US had plenty of time to work with Europe and the USSR to contain the Nazis, and that didn't happen bc they negotiated in bad faith. They wanted Hitler to contain communism. Then Hitler shifted westward.

My grandfather took this picture flying over Normandy Beach on DDay in his bomber. He was a bombardier in the 487th bomb group,8th Air Force. 836th squadron. He will always be our hero. He made it home.

Fascism often involves strong nationalism, a cult of personality around the leader, and a focus on national renewal (MAGA).

People need to know how America came together. There were very many Nazi sympathizers in the 1930's. Charles Lindbergh, Henry Ford and Charles Coughlin were the most notable. Many did not want to get involved with Europe's war, much less Asia.

But after Pearl Harbor we came together as a nation.

Cuz every few generations we have to fight the same damn battles as older people die out and hard-won lessons are forgotten, and humanity has just been rolling like this for thousands of years.
