Many of you don’t research that tariffs have been around a very long time and there are currently tariffs in place that Biden put in. Wow, didn’t do research and it shows.
Totally! We've got equally stupid people here in Canada that in their blind partisan hatred toward Trudeau, hoped for a Trump victory & still applaud it, even though threat of tariffs, threatens theirs or someone they know, livelihood.
It's terrifying how people are so detached from reality.
There is a 9 year old downstairs, when the 'plan' was explained to him it took about 10 seconds to figure out why its a stupid idea, (9 of those seconds were him being flabbergasted that actual grown-ups could be so stupid)
Trump just threatened a 25% tariff on Mexico and Canada until they stop the flow of illegals and fentanyl into America. And guess what Mexico has stopped all illegals from crossing our border. Complete crackdown is in place by Mexico
Tariffs make things coming in more expensive, pushing prices up and increasing the wealth of the few while destroying jobs, making everyday essentials much more expensive and unaffordable. Now tell me again how this benefits workers?
Yes by why would a sentient conscience being put a tariff on Canada for something happening on the Mexican border. Even if you googled "Tariff" who could you foresee that.
100% So many don't understand that a Tarriff is exactly what we need. Yes some prices will go up (Imported goods) allowing American manufacturing to be competitive. Giving American companies the ability to hire more workers and pay a good wage. Buy American!
A lot of leftists who claim to be worried about global warming don’t seem to realize that most of the “greenhouse gas” emissions in the world are a direct result of rampant consumerism fueled by China’s cheap production of unnecessary goods.
Even if they did they wouldn't believe it, or ignore it, so they could continue to pay for their fear and hate. Then they can blissfully live in ignorance because no matter what it will be a libtards fault anyway.
I could be way off base, but the intent of tariffs is to facilitate domestic companies competing with foreign ones by making it more expensive/less desirable to import goods. It's fine to be against that, and there are legitimate issues with it, but don't pretend like there is zero logic to it.
Some of the top goods the US imports from Canada include:
Crude oil and petroleum gas
Vehicles and car parts
Machinery, such as engines, turbines, and construction equipment parts
Plastics
Pharmaceuticals
Metals, such as aluminum, iron, and gold
Wood and paper
I have. Tariffs can cause price increases but can raise revenue as well as protect domestic industries. Can be used to balance trade deficits and be used as leverage in foreign negotiations. The current admin has a 100% tariff on Chinese EVs and high rates on solar & lithium goods.
They were worried about the price of eggs! Wait until the MAGA idiots see the price of gas in 2025! Or even avocados! I normally don’t go shopping on Black Friday, but ..maybe it’s time to trade in my TV or iPhone!
iphones got an exception last time, and as manufactured in China if they get the full 60% it would trigger too much outrage. I will be buying the 'small stuff' on amazon that comes from china this year.
Thanks for the response. Here all the avocados seem to be imported, at least the Haas ones which are in every supermarket around my area! Nice to know though!
Yeah I always tried to do my bit for green living - solar panels, reusable containers etc. But I also love the future utopia world building. So disappointed Elon isn’t on the progressive vision. Just the rich play ground vision it seems. I mean he could have had both…

I would write it as "a bumper sticker on a gray Golf saying:
"A lot of you didn't google tariffs and it shows"

In 2023, the United States imported over $418 billion in goods from Canada.
In 2023, Canada imported $277.04 billion worth of goods and services from the United States.

Vehicles and car parts
Machinery, such as engines, turbines, and construction equipment parts

G'luck with this.
I did.
I like “Made in America” more than I like “Made in China”.
Best,
Rick
Besides most Republicans think avocado is a left wing thing so it probably won't affect them
And they are horrible for the environment
So I can only imagine. I feel for you!!! 🥺
(x) Makes stuff more expensive
(x) Was bad during Biden/Harris admin
But they ignore the details:
( ) COVID caused GLOBAL inflation.
( ) U.S. inflation was better vs most countries
( ) Biden admin achieved soft landing
