First you have to find loggers, logging trucks, and mills. Then you have to build roads and maintain them. Then you have to have drying kilns available unless you want to wait a year for every inch of thickness. Then you have to have the lumber graded and trucked for distribution. Years later.
I've also been wondering if eco-terrorism would come back. A lot of smart dedicated people are out of work and disaffected and would see logging operations as targets.
I too wondered if this move would usher in a new era of eco-terrorism, perhaps more violent & destructive of corporate property than before. But I'd guess logging operations set up under these rules will be under armed guard 24/7. I suspect Trump will allow extreme protective & punitive measures.
Yeah that's my fear too. But I really think there are some crafty pissed off people with a lot of time on their hands, and could probably figure out a way to impede things.
For sure. And tactics will vary, as they did during Stop Cop City near Atlanta. Some built tree sits to stop cutting; others threw Molotovs. The AG pursued domestic terrorism charges. But entire forested tracts can't be guarded. Sabotage could cause even greater unrest. Hope it'll start peacefully.
The problem for America's wilful reforestation is that their software is the same quality due to the climate... so now America will have shitty wood and barren parks.
