“Put yourself in the shoes of the insurer,” Howrigon said. ‘Why not just deny them all and see which ones come back on appeal? From a cost perspective, it makes sense.”—For profit health ins. companies have a $$ incentive to deny your claim. We need universal healthcare now!
I had Cigna in the 90s. Spouse had complication after surgery. We got denials for 6 weeks during which I walked into surgeon's medical bldg & begged w cash. Dr refused to see us wo their approval. Cigna paid an extra $40k to re-do surgery that could've been fixed with just that timely doctor visit.
Also a geriatric oncologist I knew lost his practice due to Cigna. He refused to stop doing tests and was punished for having the most expensive kind of patients. Some of these elderly people just stayed home and died rather than search for new doctor.
Earlier TODAY I got this ad in the mail. I never opened it but it triggered a comment to my kid: guessing they want to kill your other parent too? (My spouse never recovered and died 25 yrs ago)
I had to read that again. You’re addressing after discharge, not the coverage when activists duty. I consider equally bad. Worked Cigna too. They’ve always rolled the dice w/ claim denials. Watch Michael Moore “Sicko” if you haven’t. Everything absolutely true.
My point is that if they throw veterans into the American healthcare system this will be the kind of things they face for their unique service related issues. VA understands my neck problems have to do with flying scout helicopters with NVG’s in the 90’s/2000’s.
Appreciate your service. You are correct. Most healthcare, whether mental health for things like PTSD, or physical health, chronic pain for injuries or repetition or take your pick, they won’t give it the time it needs for contextual assessment & to taper treatment accordingly.
They’re covered by Tri-Care during active duty and they get 6 months coverage after discharge. We used to have to field late night Tri-Care from all the way to Puerto Rico.
Yeah, Cigna is garbage. I used to work for them years ago till they sent my job to Malaysia then had me audit the people who took my job before i was let go... They don't care about people.
This is why every country needs properly funded universal healthcare. Insurance companies are just there to skim as much as they can from the system without adding any value.
Unfortunately I don't see it happening here. It should have been that way for a long time but part of the country is too stupid to see the big picture.
Americans who don't realize/don't care/don't understand that many of our institutions, like fire departments, police, roads, public schools, the military, etc, are Socialist systems are a big part of the problem.
Like the ex-Republican who voted against Obamacare but created a GoFundMe that has garnered 100s of thousands for his medical bills when he was injured? You couldn't make this stuff up if you were a writer.
Well, the guys who write for The Boys do a damn fine job.
I know. There is a difference between social policies and socialism, and communism which many seem to equate with socialism. France and Denmark are NOT the Soviet Union. Besides, they already benefit and appreciate some social programs already, which may sadly be cut under orange guy.
I find it curious that the US government already covers many people - civil servants, military, the elderly and others. And I might add that the greatest healthcare expenses are usually associated with the elderly.
We need to improve our healthcare system, but the gangsters have bought the election and would rather shoot us than even have healthcare. Our system is pretending this is okay, just didn't hit the right chord with voters . . .
They tried to do this shit to my husband and decreased his disability (already at 100%) by about half. They tried to say he recovered sufficiently from a TBI! He was reevaluated with the help of DAV (his advocate) & came back 100%+ meaning he now doesn't have to pay prop taxes on our house or truck
I'm so sorry.
I can't believe that 2/3rds of service members and Vets voted for this
people are going to find out the hard way that cutting everything to give rich people more tax breaks is not worth paying 50 cents more for eggs
😔
My husband is a good man. Took his lumps (literally, 4 concussions) for 20 years & they tried to fuck him. But he loves this country. & For the record he has never voted for frumpy even tho he identifies as a republican.
I'm so sorry. That's awful. And the sad part is that most of the cult is just laughing and happy to see it all burn down. But they don't think about all the people hurting. It's terrible.
Absolutely! They don't think of the people & neighbors they are hurting because they think they will be excluded from the pain. 'It can't be me i voted for him so I'm protected', they don't realize that that is not true & they will be suffering right along with us.
This is why my husband & I could not understand why any Vet would vote for Trump. He has made it clear he has no respect for Veterans. His comments has shown his disdain for those who have served. If they dismantle the VA Administration or cut their benefits, will the lightbulb finally go off?
I'd be interested to see the stats of how many of them voted for him, even though they were warned that he has no respect for the military and wants to use it for his own ends.
Virtually all the televisions you will find on any military base in this country will be tuned to FAUX News. Been that way since I joined back in 1980. I've been complaining about it since 1981.
Strikes me that while we're obviously the strongest military in the world wrt conventional warfare, we're an absolute joke when it comes to the non-conventional part of hybrid warfare. Has any other country fallen prey to disinformation to the extent we have? Putin laughs at us. Thanks GOP.
It's awful. I know a couple of docs who do this work, and it's mass denial. Me, I'd want to be the guy going "oh, this kiddo is sick and needs this test/referral/etc". It's a giant scam.

Over the next four years, (at most, I hope!) everything will become a business or a business opportunity.

England’s NHS is unusual in that regard (and the Tories have wrecked it, the risk of having govt control over healthcare).
Shows hows much better we've not gotten
