This is true. But it is not a point of losing money, it's a point of how much you have to spend to keep it afloat. Return on investment has a limit, especially with a service that is losing relevancy by the hour.

Actually, military loses significant money. Their private contractors pocket all the money and we don’t even have a way to audit. There’s such a thing as “military-industrial complex” as Dwight Eisenhower said once.

The post office used to be just fine until the republicans forced it to do what no other business or service was required to do - fund it's retirement 100% for 75 years! And then DeJoy stepped in and ruined it even more. He's actively trying to turn people against USPS so he can own the service.

The losing money line was used during his first term and caused a local VA clinic to be shut down. It's weird to think of the Government as a money making enterprise since it is supposed to be one of service to the people.

I see that in Britain there was a fad for privatizing municipal water providers and now it's a perfect shitstorm of a mess, with public funds being STOLEN by private equity. Capitalism is ok for selling milk and potatoes and cars. NOT when you're selling LIFE, whether it's water or medical care.
