yeah idk I think you're making up some kind of essentialist ideal of what a good artist should do in opposition to what you do and I just don't think that's how it works. If you wanna go to galleries and do traditional go, what's stopping you?

think there's some kind of popular, elitist misconception going on as to what "being an artist" should be, and all of the prerequisites usually exclude doing porn, let alone *digital* porn.
My point is, do and try what makes you happy, as long as you can pay the bill, who cares?

i lived a bit like this when i was in art school
it was great enriching to my art knowledge
but the people in this world were vultures and it reduce was will to create more and more over time, it felt so consuming

When art became my full time job, it slowly lost it's magic and became just another thing to do. trying to recapture the whole reason I started drawing in the first place has been my mission for years. I dwell too much on what I think people read into my work, sometimes it's a bit much to handle.

You are living the art life. You don't have to live it fancy. Wake up in the morning with the idea of drawing in your mind, let your hands flow and witness them creating from nothing.
What you may lack is purpose. Draw with some gole to achieve. Some challenge. Entertain yourself.

Oh yeah, I feel this is it, been missing having goals. For a while it's all been only about pushing out a cool picture just to have room to paint the next cool picture. Making art feels great, there's nothing like it. Need to find the "why" of making it.

Yep. Did the goal thing by asking for comms myself. Something to work on from start to finish and also shake of the rust and practice. DD set was smth that makes your heart going, I can tell. Be curious. Set milestones. You'll be out of dull in no time and with raging boner for art.

I've enjoyed it tho a lot of the context for it has been through school and even then not from a prestigious art school/university. It does seem to stem from a lot of schooling/academia settings. The most i've worked with different mediums was going through courses, stuck to the ones i liked

Visiting galleries also stems from if you've got friends attending or there's a specific theme you're interested in seeing. There's a local art collective I like to visit and attend when it rolls around for showcases. If you're curious about any of that baby steps, no need to go whole hog into it.

Nah, those are holdovers from art snobs. You don't need those. The bare minimum is something to draw with and something to draw on. I've seen charcoal and rock ised for some cool art.

I think I had mixed messages in the op, cause stuff like single-minded, driven sketching or different media isn't a snob activity but I haven't exactly been doing it either, it's all digital and all finished pics. 🤔
