But it was the Office of Naval Intelligence that had surveilled the Japanese community well before WWII and concluded that the Japanese community was not a threat to the national security of the U.S. The FBI had also come to the same conclusion. Yet, EO9066 and the camps were allowed to happen.

The screenshot is about a father’s decision to leave the FBI to join the military as if it was a grand stand against Japanese internment in the US. The military directed the internment of the Japanese in America, not the FBI, the FBI was just the goons used since the military was fighting a war.

I mean I don’t like war. There’s a big difference between imprisoning your own countrymen because of their ancestry and fighting people that may be of the same ancestry but who are fighting on behalf of their governments against ours. One is nation vs the people the other is nation vs nation

You do realize that it was a US military directive to create the Japanese internment camps, right? As is with most government operations, the military and FBI work closely together and it’s typically the military coordinating and directing the operations.

What part are you not getting? The government is one entity and claiming to disavow one part of it, just to go on to support the part that actually pushed for the policy being disavowed does not make a person less supportive of the policy. It definitely does not make them someone to be admired.

The entire screenshot is applauding the transition from rounding up Japanese-American Immigrants to being a soldier fighting the Japanese. I fail to see how participating in the rounding up of immigrants to supporting the retaliation that triggered the internment camps is better or admirable.
