I really like that DEI is Latin for “God” and that is literally what all these mf pretend Christians are trying to rip out of this country, in his name. It’s the Perfect Metaphor

As a lapsed Catlick of advanced years, I can still vaguely remember when the priest said "Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona nobis pacem." ("Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, grant us peace"). You don't wanna mess with Agnus.
I hated confession when I was a kid. I never felt like I did anything bad enough to ask for God’s forgiveness. But there are some supposed Catlicks around today who really should take confession seriously. I’m looking at you, Ross Douthat.
I stopped valuing confession after I spoke to a priest about another parishioner who was a long-term repeat offender pedophile, and his response was, “Why are you bringing this up now? It takes a long time to bury things.” The idea that the priesthood conveys goodness is a lie.
Oh, absolutely. Absolution for some people can’t come until after they admit that their sins hurt people, and they’ve served prison time. No forgiveness without accountability.
Roman Catholicism has many great virtues, but several fatal flaws. One, it's very hierarchical and priests answer to those above them to the point that they have to lose their conscience. Two, their insistence on celibacy does not recruit the most mature or healthy people.
Three, their attack on LGBTQ people is hypocritical when you consider that Jesus welcomed all people and his Father created these folks. And, four, most Catholic priests are institutionally arrogant and profess a "Holier than Thou" attitude while committing sins of hospitality.
