It just happened again over there and of course people getting called out for it are running to the excuses. "If you're gonna post art online you have to be prepared for this!"

Ok. But why would you want to be PART OF THAT. Why would you want to be the reason someone feels bad or their day is worse

Especially thousands of fucking people descending upon them with negative comments. I am prepared for occasional negative comments on my art, but an entire hate mob? I don't think most artists are prepared for that, nor should they have to be, sorry! You just want an excuse to be a bully!

Oh and my favorite excuse, "we're just giving them critique so they can improve!" No you fucking aren't lmao. Hate comments and insults are not critique. That is not actionable advice someone can use to improve. Again, you just want to do your best Mean Girl impression and that's a flimsy excuse

A bunch of nasty people desperate to be the bullies they didn't get to be in high school. It just pisses me off. It's very nice that Bluesky lets you detach quotes and blocking here removes people's messages from your post, it makes it a lot harder for all that to happen

i feel like twitter user behavior feels like the online equivalent to putting your own hair in the food to get a free meal at a restaurant tbh.
