Daley Plaza is at the intersection of city, county, and state government. We had one of the largest protests in the country last weekend. People are coming out to defend democracy, not hang out. The political impact of the location matters.

Right. I was there. But, if we want to keep growing the size of the protests Grant Park would allow for that. It’s bigger and more easily accessible via mass transit (especially from the South Side). That's all I'm saying.

When I looked at the video I had taken during the event, I saw that the crowd was whiter than I had expected. The 50501 movement in Chicago cannot remain a north-side and suburban movement.

To address just one of Lemon’s numerous great points here: Trump is, primarily, a problem imposed on America by white people. White people need to own that.

But I don't see 50501 succeeding as an overwhelmingly white, middle-class liberal movement. I don't know how to fix this. But it needs fixing.

There has been a lot of discussion about Black folks specifically not going to these protests for reasons that have nothing to do with location. I can't possibly get into all of that here, but I recommend looking up what Black activists have been saying about these events.

I'm sorry but the Palestinian groups need to organize their own protests just like the Ukrainians and other oppressed people. Pro-democracy rallies in the US should be US focused. I went to a Ukraine rally and would go to a Palestinian rally.
