When the libdems were the 4th largest party in the Commons and the SNP the third, it was the libdems who the media preferred to platform. Unlike the other 3, the libdems have be in uk government in living memory and turned out they were tories. Where are the independents, the socialist parties…

The FPTP electoral system encourages the media issues you state. In a two horse race -one the administration the other the official opposition get the largest exposure between them. The Proportional representation system in Scotland’s devolved governance leads to more diverse political tv coverage.

Agreed. However currently not even the Tories (as official opposition at Westminster) are getting the kind of coverage Reform are getting. They have 121 MPs, Libs have 72, SNP 9 and in govt in Scotland. reform have 5 MPs and feels like 10x the coverage (or at least talking up) of any of them

Indeed. There is not a hope in hell that the corporate media - which support the status quo and represent not news agencies as we would think but large concentrations of capital pulling the strings in favour of the most conservative, supporter of war and the arms race, complicit in genocide etc

We couldn’t even get the complaints system in respect to the newspaper industry put on a legislative footing, despite gross criminal activity, simply because corporate power opposed it! You have seen how tv coverage is extremely biased and censored British colonial complicity in Gaza?! Well?!!!

The problem exists for those parties competing in elections and not necessarily getting elected! If you never get fair and proportionate media exposure then you will never get elected.

Not sure what you’re talking about. They all have the same stance on Trump. Either way this is about making sure all parties, regardless your personal views on any of them, get fair coverage. With 72 MPs, the Libs should be getting much more than Reform.
