except for the shadow leaks from intersecting geometry, those still suck all the same but can at least be worked around by getting rid of intersecting geometry where it's possible.

Especially with higher res lightmaps it becomes an obvious sharper detail in corners. In these screenshots it works alright because of the low resolution, but it's way too much AO compared to what you'd typically want.
