It is a fact, and if Linux is ever going to be a serious alternative to Windows or iOS, then it is going to have to incorporate changes that make it usable by people who don’t know how computers work but need to use them anyway.

One of the changes, IMHO, is to back away from one of the things that Linux people see as a strength, which is the umpty-million different distros - variety is not an advantage if you're looking to commoditise a product for mass acceptance

Heck, distro hardly even matter anymore. If you use Gnome, Plasma, or Cinnamon, you basically have a modern gui based system.
