most people against F2P in Splatoon have never actually played a F2P game I swear
no, your weapons and gear won't be locked behind microtransactions. no, you won't have to pay for new maps. no, you're not gonna miss out on any gameplay if you don't pay.

We even had foam stars, a PAID GAME offering MONEY TRANSACTIONS in the game, the greed of these companies knows no limits
games with less predatory monetization have been proven to perform better and earn more over longer times
Nintendo has even pressured their mobile development partners to rein in microtransactions
they put characters behind a battle pass that everyone could reach, it's just that if you payed for premium you got them earlier
if you missed the battle pass you just needed to do some easy challenges to get them
obliviously, still bad, but not as bad as you make it
ow has been improving a lot since ow2 launch and imo 2024/5 have been amazing for the game with how many great things they have changed/added
just kind of unfortunate how people like spreading negativity on a game that's actually really good
there would be some free stuff of course, but then you'd have that season pass clothing and i'd hate it immensely
i'd rather we keep the game a single $60 payment (better stay 60, Nintendo) instead of shoving microtransactions into the series
Splatoon is well supported & has a huge following already.
How would the game or community benefit from F2P? This seems like a solution in search of a problem.
Going f2p means taking a team who already has dev resources split between two huge franchises & making them pump out meaningless content just to make $.
This seems like the exact opposite of what gamers should want from Nintendo.
And I'd love to hear your idea about how those "minor" issues can be resolved
You want to turn them into a content factory but if we look at other big games that operate like that it takes a ton of people.
But I believe that 2 yrs of support is the right amount for Splatoon not an endless content cycle.
Plus we don't really know what will and won't be paid content for all we know they can make the progression of the game 5 times slower and make exp and money tickets paid content too
Plus also how much money would everything they offer cost at the end too.
Mario Kart Tour in general was designed to suck the money out of you. Needed specific characters for *each track* for best scores. Impractical to do F2P.
So I don't trust Ninty here lol
But between Mario Kart Tour and Dragalia Lost, if it is Nintendo then I have trust issues lmao
But I know the struggles for the people not spending $$$$ to +10 the new toy of the week.
As long as they also do improvements on giving players things like weapons and easing on the level requirements it could work
I would rather pay the total price up front to be given access to everything with challenges or time.
bc most free to play games are just that

I enjoy Splatoon being mostly free of microtransaction and Id like the game to stay that way.
fyi i have played f2p games.
theyre not gonna make people pay to wear a green tshirt 😭
you pay for weapon skins, but all weapons with stat changes are available for free
AND THEY DID IT FOR 2 WEAPONS WHY
Maybe splatoon can bring it back if they don't want to give new players a good chunk of weapons at once, borrow a few at a time from sheldon
but F2P accounts can't even store all base weapons in their inventory until 2 years into the game anyway lol
