The UK was at a similar point where the US is now, when it voted for Brexit in 2016: Britain First, we don’t want anymore refugees.
With the beginning of Russia’s invasion, the UK seems to have recovered to a point of playing nice with allies again. Recovery is possibly and it took about six years.
