26. Secret of Mana — This little gal is a wild time, providing stellar looks & soundtrack and unique nav & battle systems … and yet … it’s got issues. The first couple of hours are punishing, the combat ends up being way more basic than intended, and I kind of hated the end game. Good, not great.
27. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze — Felt like a necessary step forward from the SNES classics without eschewing the important bits. A truly inventive and satisfying platformer. What a delight to get to play this together with my youngest!
28. Space Harrier — God help me, I liked this a fair bit more than the sequel on the Genesis. I think the d-pad and turbo switches on the Turbografx-16 improve the experience a lot. The frame rate is still trash and good luck getting through this without save states, but it really was kinda fun.
29. Super Darius — Do you like blowing up fish? This is a solid time if you recognize going in that it’s your typically unforgiving shooter. It’s an impressive port, and I’m glad it’s been preserved.
