I do appreciate that distinction, but I more than often saw the word used as an empty, effortless slur against women. Same category as the "N" word to me. Recent times have convinced me to use it in the other context as you've described...still not 100% comfortable with it, but no other word works.

As a POC I can assure you they are not the same. I use the c word when it’s warranted. Sometimes it’s in jest, and sometimes it’s not. IMHO, it’s never warranted to utter the n word.

We say twit in the UK - a nice insult so to speak. My mum confused twat with twit and was furious with me when I told her what it meant because she’d been happily calling everyone it! As the circle turns, my son is now teaching me swear words so all is good. Sort of! 😂
