I've said about "Faded Gold" that it felt cold, and that made sense for its topic.
"Tales" on the other hand feels white-hot, more confrontational and agressive.
As principal songwriter, @amandak6647.bsky.social deserves full credit for that!

Every song took me on a journey; it ebbed and flowed wonderfully, never overstayed its welcome and kept interesting throughout. The tempo- and rhythmic changes landed perfectly and gave the whole piece an irresistable drive.

The inclusion of @metalminder.bsky.social in the band payed off. Hard to tell for me which his guitar parts were, but the use of an acoustic guitar and keys, as well as his BRUTAL backing vocals did wonders for the dynamic feeling of the EP.

That leaves the main vocals by @loachy16.bsky.social. His shrieks were nasty and bone-chilling as always, but in a few select moments, they flipped (on purpose) into an almost comical direction. I loved that; it showed that he had fun while recording. And that felt Infectious!

Also, the mix by @vikingguitar.bsky.social was right on the money. It balanced the typical, muffled BM-sound with a perfectly clear, modern one. Every instrument was clearly audible, without sacrificing the atmosphere.

I'm sure I'll bring this EP up several times as the year goes along, but this will clearly be one of its highlights!
