It would probably be better if it happened more often. Not necessarily at the altar, but before marriage.

It seems like the kind of thing where it’s not as interesting in a television show for the couple to have a breakup or postponement a couple of months before a wedding, so they go with “stood up at the altar” instead.

It can’t possibly be common. Weddings are so expensive & complicated these days, I can’t imagine getting all the way through planning if you aren’t sure. And once you’ve paid for it & told everyone you know, there’s financial & social pressure to follow through.

My friend's dad and I were talking every day the week before. He told her the money didn't matter.
And then they went through with it, and she said it was the best day of her life, and it's been 18 years.
They're just really neurotic and were scared.
