I have firsthand experience with competing in a gender diverse sport.
I play roller derby and did martial arts for about 10 years.
Both of these are contact sports meaning I have taken hits from trans and cis people alike.
Their gender doesn’t affect me, I’m happy to play with trans athletes.

But I believe the attacks on trans athletes are meant to be an entry point for transphobia normalization.
And since I have a well informed counter perspective, I figured I’d share it.
I did kung fu as well, I believe I achieved blue belt/blue sash in both.
I literally got punched in the face by a full grown man during kung fu (it was an accident) and was fine. 🤷♀️
I also find the take that males have an “advantage” on females to be so insulting.
Size of the skater had very little to do with how hard they rammed into me 😂
I’m very small, I got advantages of my own hehe
The whole thing is a nasty con; faux concern carrying bigotry
