We instituted it where I live, and it is great—but also far more time consuming. We had ranked choice for and expanded city council and it took everyone I know hours to vote.

Ranked voting is great for a primary. Here in Nevada, they tried to incorporate it with an open primary. So the top two would go on to the general election even if they were from the same party. Republicans could vote for the weakest democrat and vice versa. Fortunately, the measure was defeated.

Maine has ranked choice, for all except Governor elections, and fingers crossed that aspect gets fixed with current pending state legislation.

The extreme polarizing candidates tend to do poorly. Ranked Choice Non-partisan primaries are the way to go. People unable to reach across the aisle to make deals rarely get elected. People who show they can get things done get power.
