Xenophobe is boring. Give me an Egalitarian Xenophile save any time, I need my federation and my "diplomacy that isn't a miserable slog"
Also, Prethoryn are the least interesting crisis. Alien locusts vs The Terminator, or Eldritch Conquerors From Outside the Galaxy. Unbidden any day.

The Irassians are a pretty good precursor, actually. Sure, they're no Cybrex, but I've had some great games with the irassian naval yards where I just spam corvettes or nanite swarmers out and nothing short of an awakened empire fleet can stand up to the sheer numbers.
